6 hot dog rolls
6 x boerewors portions (100-150g sausage per person)
1 x 200g sachet Denny Mushroom & Pepper Pour-Over Sauce
2 red onions, thinly sliced
125ml apple cider vinegar
1 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp sea salt
For the pickled onions:
Place the red onions in a glass jar.
Combine the rest of the ingredients in a small saucepan.
Bring to a simmer and stir until the sugar and salt have dissolved.
Pour over the red onions.
Allow to cool at room temperature and then refrigerate.
Make pickled onions a few hours before serving or ideally the night before.
Braai the boerewors over low to medium coals.
Turn boerewors a few times until the exterior is deeply golden brown and meat is just cooked through but remains nice and juicy.
Allow the boerewors to rest on a chopping board.
Heat the Denny Pour-Over Sauce in a small saucepan or in a microwave safe container.
Toast the buns on the braai until golden brown.
Place rested boerie in each roll.
Top generously with the warm pour over sauce.
Finish with some pickled onions and enjoy!
